The President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy, known unofficially as The Warren Commission, was established on November 29, 1963, by Lyndon B. Johnson to investigate the assassination of the U.S. President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. It concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing Kennedy. The Commission’s findings have since proved extremely controversial and have frequently been challenged.
The Commission took its unofficial name—the Warren Commission—from its chairman, Chief Justice of the United States Earl Warren.
The Warren Commission report is the official “party line” on what is the watershed event in many Americans lives including me. Polls have shown that the majority of those Americans do not believe in the report. There are just too many obvious discrepancies to be taken at face value. JFK assassination researchers and conspiracy theorists are a whole cottage industry in America. The “magic bullet” and the inability of any FBI sharpshooter to replicate Oswald’s alleged shots are just two of the most glaring. I doubt very much that I will live to see the release of information that the family requested be held for at least 75 years, but medical science as started doing wonders.
